South Mecklenburg Presbyterian Church, 8601 Bryant Farms Road, Charlotte, NC  28277, will host Anna Whiston-Donaldson, author of Rare Bird, Sunday, January 24.

On an ordinary September day, Anna’s son, twelve-year-old Jack, is swept away in a freak neighborhood flood. In Rare Bird, Anna Whiston-Donaldson unfolds a mother’s story of loss that leads, in time, to enduring hope. With this unforgettable account of a family’s love and longing, Anna will draw you deeper into a divine goodness that keeps us—beyond all earthly circumstances—safe.

At 9:00 a.m. in the McQueen Room, Anna Whiston-Donaldson will share ideas of how churches and communities can better support families in crisis and grieving families, and how to talk to your children about faith and trusting God in difficult situation.

She will share her faith story during the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service, and will speak at 5:00 p.m. in Mecklenburg Hall. A reception and book signing will follow the 5:00 p.m. event.
