List Of Cancellations & Postponements Around Charlotte Due To Coronavirus

Like most of the country, sports leagues, events and celebrations around the Greater Charlotte Area are now being canceled or postponed as a result of the COVID-19 coronavirus.

  • NASCAR has postponed the next two races at Atlanta Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway. It is unclear when the season will resume.
  • Carowinds is postponing its park opening this season until Friday, April 3.
  • Sesame Street Live has been canceled. Refunds will be available through point of purchase.
  • Davidson Day School is transitioning to online learning effective Monday, March 16 for 30 days. The earliest possible on-campus return would be Tuesday, April 14.
  • Davidson College All classes canceled through Tuesday, March 17. All classes will resume online beginning Wednesday, March 18. Campus will remain open for supplemental coursework.
  • NCHSAA games and matches have been canceled from 11:59 p.m. Friday, March 13 through Monday, April 6. There will be no practices or games for middle and high school teams until further notice.
  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Career Fair, April 4, has been canceled. All after-school activities are canceled, effective Saturday, March 14 and all Community Use of Schools events are canceled until further notice.
  • Charlotte National College Fair, March 22 at The Park Expo and Conference Center has been canceled.
  • Forest Hill Church On-campus services have been suspended and moving to online worship March 14-15 and March 21-22.
  • Johnson C. Smith University spring break has been extended one week to March 27. All residence halls will close at March 30 for the remainder of the semester. All undergrad classes will be online.
  • Charlotte Latin School closed Friday, March 13 for students. Teacher workday.
  • Charlotte Country Day closed Friday, March 13. Teacher workday. Also closed March 23.
  • Providence Day School closed Friday, March 13. Teacher workday.
  • Charlotte Christian School closed Friday, March 13. Teacher workday.
  • Elevation Church no in-person services for Saturday, March 14 or Sunday, March 15. Online streaming worship will still be offered.
  • Myers Park United Methodist Church will have no in-person worship effective immediately. The cancellation is expected to last for the next few weeks.
  • Queens University of Charlotte announces online instruction starting Wednesday, March 18. Residential halls will close by 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 15.
  • White Water Center Green River Revival has been canceled.
  • Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been postponed by City of Charlotte to a later date that has not yet been announced.
  • Michael Bublé has postponed all of his shows from March 17-April 5th. This includes his show in Charlotte, NC on March 18.
  • The Mexican National Team’s MEXTOUR match scheduled for March 26th at Bank of America Stadium has been canceled.
  • Rich and Bennett’s St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl: Event organizers have postponed this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl for June 27.
  • Whitewater Center’s Green River Revival canceled Sat., March 14
  • NCAA Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament has been canceled as well as the remaining winter and spring championships.
  • ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament: The remainder of the tournament has been canceled due to coronavirus.
  • Charlotte Hornets games: The NBA has suspended all games “until further notice” after Utah Jazz player Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19.
  • Charlotte Checkers and all American Hockey League games cancelled until further notice
  • NCHSAA high school state basketball championship games canceled
  • Charlotte Independence and United Soccer League games suspended
  • Charlotte 49ers and Conference USA suspended, including the scheduled game for March 21
  • Michael Buble concert scheduled for March 18 in Charlotte is postponed
  • Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools field trips: All field trips in and out of Mecklenburg County have been canceled indefinitely.
