Charlotte is likely to see snow this week, forecasters say

After a warm and rainy winter, the Charlotte metro region will finally see snow today, according to forecasters. But how much?

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the greater Charlotte metro region from 10 a.m. Thursday until midnight, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow is likely to fall after 1 p.m., with mostly rain falling Thursday morning, forecasters said.

The Charlotte Mecklenburg schools system is letting students out of classes 3 hours early Thursday and all after school activities are canceled due snow forecast Thursday afternoon, the district said early Thursday.
