2012 Food Lion Speed Street May 24th – 26th

Celebrating its 18th year in 2012, Food Lion Speed Street will transform the streets of Uptown Charlotte into a showcase of motorsports with non-stop entertainment on two stages, appearances by top Sprint Cup Drivers, dynamic exhibits for all ages and an amazing assembly of NASCAR show cars and simulators!

An entire block for Food Lion Speed Street is devoted to children, encouraging families to take part in the activities. If you’re planning a trip to Charlotte for the NASCAR races, be sure to include the Food Lion Speed Street 600 Festival in your plans. Admission is free and open to all ages.

For more than 25 years, the 600 Festival Association has been commemorating the May races at Charlotte Motor Speedway with spectacular family-oriented events that personify the tremendous growth of motorsports.

Organizers are making some changes to this year’s Speed Street festival in uptown Charlotte.

The event is a precursor for the Coca-Cola 600 and includes dozens of live concerts.

Organizers said to accommodate the growing number of fans at the event, they’re moving the location of two of the stages.

The Miller Lite stage will be located in the parking lot near the corner of South Tryon and East Stonewall streets, across from the Mint Museum. The Cheerios stage, located in the Food Lion Kids’ Zone presented by General Mills, will shift south on Tryon Street to be located near Fourth and Tryon streets.

An estimated 400,000 people are expected to attend the event, which runs May 24 through 26.
