2014 Cinco de Mayo celebrations taking place in and around Charlotte. Mexican cuisine, festivals, bar crawls, & more!

Every year on the 5th of May, Americans come together to celebrate Mexican culture, heritage and cuisine on a day that commemorates the 1862 victory of Mexico over the French. Whether it is a night of authentic Mexican cuisine and drinks, a bar crawl or a festival, there are plenty of ways to celebrate Cinco de Mayo right here in the Charlotte area.

Saturday, May 3rd

Cinco de Mayo and Patio Opening Party
This Uptown nightclub has a beautiful patio and tiki bar that’s now opening for the season. Guests will enjoy drink specials, giveaways such as beads, T-shirts, and party favors, and DJs. 9 p.m.-2 a.m. Admission cost varies. Roxbury Nightclub, 116 W. 5th St., facebook.com/Roxburync.

Cinco de Mayo Fanta Festival

The Latin American Coalition’s Fanta Festival is a one-day, highly publicized Cinco de Mayo celebration which attracts more than 30,000 children and adults from Charlotte’s Hispanic community. This FREE event features internationally known musical acts, celebrity appearances, folkloric dance performances, as well as children’s games and activities. An open-air food court offers authentic Latin American cuisine and the Latin American Mercado sells hand-made, imported goods and specialty products. A true community event, the Fanta Festival has secured its place as the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration in North Carolina.

Cinco de Mayo Brunch

Cuatro de Mayo
