Description

Evening Star Productions, Inc. Presents A Raisin In The Sun July 13 – 21, 2012 at Duke Energy Theater at Spirit Square.

“What happens to a dream deferred? Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun? Or fester like a sore…” These famous words, created by Langston Hughes sparked the concept for A Raisin in the Sun, the most famous work of Ms. Lorraine Hansberry. This play, which originally debuted on Broadway in 1959, is still resounding loud, with the contemporary audiences around the World.

The story centers on the Younger’s. We meet them within a major period of transition as they wait for a life insurance check that will change all of their lives. As Mama and Walter Lee have very different ideas of how the money should be spent, tension arises, dynamics shift, and if the Younger’s are ever to pull themselves together and fix what is broken, they must call on the most important thing they ever had to begin with; The power of love, and more importantly the power of Family.

Show contains strong language and violent content. NOT recommended for children under 13.
