Matchup to Watch
LeBron James vs. Corey Maggette: Bobcats coach Paul Silas has been impressed with Maggette’s defense, particularly his ability to anticipate opponents’ moves. Never will that be tested more than by James, who upgraded his post-up game during the offseason.

Observations
-Gerald Henderson and Dwyane Wade are two exceptional athletes at shooting guard.

-It will likely be tougher to play the bench in long stretches in this game than in the Bobcats’ opening matchup with Milwaukee.

-The Heat is coming off a home game against the Boston Celtics, so the Bobcats should be the fresher team.

-The 11-point final margin was misleading; the Heat dismantled the reigning-champion Dallas Mavericks on Christmas Day.

Tap-ins
-Although point guard D.J. Augustin (sprained left ankle) couldn’t practice Tuesday, Silas felt there was a strong chance he could start against the Heat.

-If James matches his 19 free-throw attempts in Dallas, it will be a long night for the Bobcats. The Bobcats and Heat have a rematch Sunday in Miami. Tonight is the Heat’s only appearance this season in Charlotte.
