Description

Starving Artist Productions Presents ‘Don’t Cry For Me, Margaret Mitchell’ April 4th – 14, 2012.

From the company that brought you the award-nominated drama, The Birth, comes something completely different.

Synopsis: A fast-paced, non-stop look at three men locked in an office, living off bananas and salted peanuts while trying to rewrite the screenplay to Gone With the Wind, a novel that took Margaret Mitchell ten years to write. Funny, irreverent and mostly true.

In 1939, David O. Selznick stopped production on the movie Gone With the Wind three weeks into shooting. He hated the script. It had to be rewritten. With the stalled production costing him fifty thousand dollars a day, there was only one writer in Hollywood who could save the day – the legendary Ben Hecht. Selznick, Hecht, and director Victor Fleming camp out in Selznick’s office to do the deed. To their horror, they soon discover that Hecht has never read the book and knows nothing about the characters. Only in Hollywood could something destined to turn out so wrong turn out so right.

Don’t Cry For Me, Margaret Mitchell is written by local playwriting duo Duke Ernsberger and Virginia Cate.

A talkback with the cast, director and playwright will immediately follow the Wednesday, April 4 performance.

Following the Friday, April 13 performance, there will be a screening of Starving Artist’s three short films followed by an exclusive look at the pilot of the brand new, Charlotte-based web-series One and Done. Don’t miss this exclusive opportunity to see the projects Starving Artist is and has been developing. Screening free of charge with Margaret Mitchell ticket purchase.

Margaret Mitchell contains mild crude language, politically incorrect humor and smoking on stage.

Tickets: $15 – $22
