Description

During the 1980’s, Paul Laurence was ranked among the top R&B songwriter/producers in the music industry with seven #1 Billboard R&B hits to his credit, including Freddie Jackson’s “Rock Me Tonight (For Old Time Sake)”, Stephanie Mills’s “You’re Putting a Rush On Me”, and the Prince composition, “Do Me Baby”, covered by Meli’sa Morgan.

As a mentee of the songwriter/producer powerhouse duo Nick Ashford & Valerie Simpson, Paul had obtained a wealth of industry experience before breaking big with his first project of significance, the 1981 release of Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King’s “I’m in Love”. Soon after, the hits kept coming. His collaborative efforts includes hit releases by King, Kashif, Kenny G, Lillo Thomas, Melba Moore and many others.

On Fridays, February 17 & March 2, Paul will perform some of his most memorable compositions and pay tribute to the soundtrack of his childhood, MOTOWN – The Sound of Young America.

See Paul on the re-airings documenting the life and career of Freddie Jackson and the documentary of Melba Moore on TVOne’s “Unsung”.
