E Pluribus Unum, Latin for “out of many, one,” is the title of an exciting new exhibit at UNC Charlotte Center City based on diverse traditions, different views, philosophies, and strategies. UNC Charlotte has partnered with the Hip Hop Caucus’ Respect My Vote! initiative to host an interactive Opening Reception on Saturday, September 15 at 6 p.m. at the beautiful UNC Charlotte Center City building, free and open to the public. Performances by Mike from Day 26, Bettie Grind, and Mr. 704 will ignite the evening.

In addition to musical selections, Quentin “Q” Talley will deliver spoken word in front of the conceptual-art/ice sculpture “Trickle Down.” A live digital lounge will be set up for attendees to discuss E Pluribus Unum pieces, their power, and how it relates to society today. The exhibit is based on pluralism in America; guests can use this theme to tweet messages as well as post images to Facebook and Instagram live from the event, and are asked to use the #RespectMyVote and #EPluribus hashtags.

Complimentary wine and farm-to-fork cuisine provided by Harvest Moon Grille will be served during the first two hours of the evening.

E Pluribus Unum, presented by the College of Arts + Architecture and located at UNC Charlotte Center City (http://centercity.uncc.edu), is a gathering of different cultures and expressions, including works by Michael Murphy of Georgia; the collaborative team Nora Ligorano and Marshall Reese of New York; historical artists Arthur Mole and John Thomas; and Charlotte-based artists Barbara Schreiber, Grant Baldwin, Carrie Gault, and Jason Michel.

The Hip Hop Caucus (http://hiphopcaucus.org) is a national nonprofit organization, and Respect My Vote! (http://respectmyvote.com) is its nonpartisan voter registration, mobilization, and education campaign targeting young people between the ages of 18 and 40.
