Rick James was looking for a way to start his career so he started singing in church. Then he discovered there was another calling. He realized he had a talent like no other, so he started experimenting by mixing rock with R&B. Rick knew if he kept on praying, his career would launch. If he only knew then that his name would go down in history as “Rick James – The King of Funk.”

As he rose to the top, he teamed up with a singer known as Teena Marie. Together they took the world by storm – topping the chart every time they hit the stage. His desire for women and drugs made him weak but his drive and determination made him a great business man.

This is a riveting story about the “ King of Funk” and his rise and fall to fame through the eyes of those who knew him best.
