Charlotte Hornets Bury Bobcats Name For Halloween

After one game under the returned Charlotte Hornets name, the team saw it fit to put the Bobcats name to bed, via a custom casket cake. The cake featured an RIP cross and the words “Here Lies The Bobcats.”
The Hornets name returned to Charlotte during the offseason after New Orleans changed their name from Hornets to their Louisiana state bird – Pelicans, during the spring of 2013. Once the Hornets name was no longer in use by an NBA team, Charlotte jumped at the opportunity to bring the name back home to the Queen City where it originated.
Charlotte appropriately chose Halloween for a ceremonial burial of their former nickname.
