Charlotte’s Levines, Belks Among America’s Wealthiest Families

Two prominent Charlotte families, the Levines and Belks, are among the richest dynasties in America, according to Forbes magazine.
The families needed to have a combined net worth of $1 billion in order to be considered. Forbes then estimated their assets and debts.
Charlotte investor C.D. Spangler and Raleigh-area software titans Jim Goodnight and John Sall, all North Carolinians listed on Forbes’ annual billionaires ranking earlier this year, did not make the families list. Neither did Michael Jordan, who joined the publication’s billionaires club more recently as his stake in the Charlotte Hornets soared along with the NBA team’s value.
