XPO Logistics Bringing 200 Jobs To Charlotte

February 29, 2012

XPO Logistics Inc announced on Tuesday that it will hire 200 employees in the Charlotte area as it opens a North American operations center.

The Michigan-based logistics company will add 200 jobs in accounting, finance, human resources, internet technology, brokerage and carrier procurement and operations.

The average salary will be around $57,000 per year.

The company is negotiating a lease for 20,000 square feet in a Ballantyne-area building in south Charlotte for its operations center.

“We expect to start hiring across all functions immediately,” says Chief Operating Officer Sean Fernandez.

The state is offering incentives tied to jobs that could yield up to $3.22 million in benefits to XPO over 10 years.

“This announcement clearly strengthens Charlotte’s reputation as a distribution hub,” said Charlotte mayor Anthony Foxx in a statement.

North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue and other city officials were on hand in uptown Charlotte during the announcement.

XPO Logistics is a trucking and shipping business. Although it owns no trucks, ships or airplanes, it uses a network of agreements with shippers to move customers’ goods around the world.

XPO serves more than 4,000 retail, commercial, manufacturing and industrial customers through seven U.S. operations centers and 23 agent locations.
