Description

The Irish Curse August 4-20, 2011

Queen City Theatre Company (2010 MTA Theatre Company of the Year) is back with a hilarious award winning comedy! The play that the New York Post called “THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES FOR GUYS” and winner of the 2005 Outstanding Playwright at the NYC Fringe Festival, premieres in Charlotte directed by Creative Loafing’s Director of the Year Glenn T. Griffin.

What THE IRISH CURSE is – and how it manifests itself – is the raw centerpiece of this wicked, rollicking and very funny new play. From its blistering language to its brutally honest look at sex and body image, THE IRISH CURSE is a revealing portrait of how men, and society, define masculinity: “Do I measure up to the next guy?”

Size matters for this group of Irish-American men that meet every Wednesday night, in a Catholic church basement in NYC, at a self-help group for men with small penises. This allegedly Irish trait is the focus of their weekly whining and bitching as they feel this “shortcoming” has ruined their lives.

“A funny and charming play by Martin Casella. The VAGINA MONOLOGUES for guys!”
– Elisabeth Vincentelli, New York Post

“For women, the play provides insight into the mysterious workings of the male psyche, for men, safety in numbers, and for everyone a warm, and satisfying comedy.”
– Gwen Orel, The Irish Examiner
