July 14^th – 16^th The Comedy Zone in Charlotte, NC is proud to present the multi-talented Vir Das.  Vir is one of the highest grossing stand-up comedians in India, as well as a multi-talented performer, accomplished Musician and Bollywood actor.  Born and raised in India and educated in the US, Das transforms the western image of the typical Kwik-E-Mart humor into a show that is raw, edgy, intelligent and relevant. With two successfully sold out stand-up tours in North America including New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco, Das brings his “Unbelievable” tour back to the US by popular demand.  The second leg of the tour kicks off in Charlotte with stops in Irvine & Dallas.  Vir’s show is a marriage between theater and comedy, his audiences find themselves captivated by his fast-paced high energy delivery and clever wit. 

The “Unbelievable” tour with it’s hilarious tall tales and truths of love, life and politicshas become a global success with performances in over 40 cities in India and abroad in Dubai, Singapore and North America.  It has been deemed the highest selling comedy tour in India and contributed to the sale of over half a million tickets in his home country. Penned as the “King of Stand Up Comedy in India” by the largest selling English newspaper publication in India, the Times of India, Das further cemented his success with “History of India,” the largest selling theatre show in the Indian subcontinent. In addition to his long list of accomplishments, Das introduced the first ever Indian Comedy Festival, Pajama Festival in 2014, attracting record-breaking numbers in Indian comedy festival history. 

In 2006, Das made his highly successful Bollywood debut and has since appeared in over 10 movies. He started his film career with “Badmash Compa” followed by his most recognized film, “Delhi Belly,” which has cemented its place as a cult film in India. The Hollywood Reporter described him as giving “A sparkling comic performance.” He was seen in the commercially and critically acclaimed movies, “Go Goa Gone,” which was India’s first zombie film and “Revolver Rani” opposite Kangana Ranaut who is one of the most popular actresses in the India today. Most recently Vir was in the hugely anticipated comedy, “Mastizaade,” which hit theatres January 2016.

Das is a comedic triple threat, having started the first ever Indian Comedy Rock Band, Alien Chutney. Headlining the band with his vocals, Das and his three band mates tour across India performing original comedy songs, parodies on current pop culture, socio-political hot topics and punch lines that meet catchy riffs.
