Few hip-hop albums had the impact of Public Enemy’s 1990 Top 10 smash “Fear of a Black Planet.” It struck a chord with blacks and whites, city dwellers and suburbanites, while spawning No. 1 singles that illustrated the yin and yang of the group – Flavor Flav’s humor (“911 Is a Joke”) and PE’s rabble-rousing political consciousness (“Fight the Power”).
Twenty years later, frontman Chuck D. and his cohorts celebrate that seminal album’s release with the third leg of their “Fear of a Black Planet” Tour, stopping at Amos’ on Sunday.
