A new, temporary landmark – towering 110 feet high – now sits on the western edge of uptown Charlotte.
Dozens of construction workers helped raise the white big top tent of Cavalia, a touring production that has been called “Cirque du Soleil with horses” and will visit Charlotte for a multi-week run beginning April 30.
The show travels with 60 horses and 40 human performers (acrobats, dancers and musicians), promising a theater-like experience that incorporates a 160-foot-wide stage and a 210-foot-wide screen for projected video and other special effects. More than 100,000 tickets were sold during a recent run of Cavalia performances in Atlanta.
Location: South Clarkson Street, across from Bank of America Stadium
