Job Fair Begins To Fill 1,000 Positions In Charlotte – June 12th & 13th

A massive job fair begins Friday, June 12th, just a day after Gov. Bev Perdue announced a business expansion that will bring 1,000 jobs to the area, many in east Charlotte.

Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) is expanding its current Charlotte location on Executive Center Drive off Independence Boulevard. NACA is a nationwide nonprofit organization that restructures unaffordable mortgages and helps owners stay in their homes.

NACA is holding a two-day job fair Friday, June 12th and Saturday, June 13th at the NACA Charlotte office on Executive Center Drive. Hours both days are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Applicants are advised to bring resumes and be ready for an interview. NACA Counseling Center, 2nd Floor of 5855 Executive Center Drive, Charlotte.

The hiring will begin immediately. NACA will start by offering 550 positions over the next two to four weeks, and at least 500 more will be offered within the next year.

Former Bank of America CEO Hugh McColl was part of the mission, and he said the additional positions couldn’t have come at a better time with so many losses in the financial industry. “We have a great workforce, which we already know, and there are a lot of trained people here in this city. Jobs really come to where the trained people are,” he said.

Salaries for the new positions range from $35,000 to $80,000.

Bob Morgan, with the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, said, “These are entry-level jobs in the financial services center. This is great news for people in Charlotte who maybe have been in the financial services sector or who would like to enter it.”
